BOAF- Annual Conference - Rotterdam 17-18 June 2023

Dear friends and colleagues,

This year we were holding our Annual International Conference, in memoriam of Frank Hardy, from June 17th to 18th, 2023 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

To honor Frank Hardy we organized the 2023 Conference again in the Netherlands. At the Gala Diner we will present for the first time the "Frank Hardy" Award.

The main topic at this Conference was:

The Neuro-Developmental-Optometric Approach to Amblyopia and Strabismus.

It was an unforgettable exchange of experiences.

Liebe Freunde und Kollegen,

In diesem Jahr hielten wir unsere jährliche internationale Konferenz zum Gedenken an Frank Hardy vom 17. bis 18. Juni 2023 in Rotterdam, Niederlande, ab.

Zu Ehren von Frank Hardy haben wir die Konferenz 2023 erneut in den Niederlanden organisiert. Beim Gala Diner haben wir zum ersten Mal den „Frank Hardy“ Award verliehen.

Das Hauptthema dieser Konferenz war:

Der Neuro-Entwicklungs-Optometrische Ansatz bei Amblyopie und Strabismus.

Es war ein unvergesslicher Erfahrungsaustausch.

Vielen Dank an alle Teilnehmer, die es zu einem unvergesslichen Ereignis gemacht haben.

BOAF - Annual Conference - Utrecht 2021

The Annual BOAF Conference on Behavioral Optometry and Syntonic Optometry was held on November 13-14, 2021 in Utrecht - The Netherlands. The theme for this year was: ”How the pandemic changed our Vision".

There were Colleagues from The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia and Belgium.

We thank all the participants for their presence and wonderful interactions.

We would like to say a special thanks to all the presenters: Rob Gevers, Jürgen Eichinger, Sabine Tolksdorf, Hartmut Wander and Diana Doorduin. Unfortunately Diana couldn’t make it at the last minute and her presentation was replaced by an additional presentation by Stefan Collier. Diana’s presentation will be scheduled for a special Online Web-presentation.

We also would like to thank our Translator, Jürgen Eichinger and Frank Hardy for the amazing organization.

In summary, this meeting was just magical

Die jährliche BOAF-Konferenz für Verhaltensoptometrie und Syntonic Optometrie fand vom 13. bis 14. November 2021 in Utrecht (Niederlande) statt. Das Thema für dieses Jahr lautete: „Wie die Pandemie unsere Vision verändert hat“.

Es waren Kollegen aus den Niederlanden, Deutschland, Italien, der Schweiz, Slowenien und Belgien anwesend.

Wir danken allen Teilnehmern für ihre Anwesenheit und den wunderbaren Austausch.

Ein besonderer Dank gilt allen Referenten: Rob Gevers, Jürgen Eichinger, Sabine Tolksdorf, Hartmut Wander und Diana Doorduin. Leider konnte Diana es in letzter Minute nicht schaffen und ihre Präsentation wurde durch eine zusätzliche Präsentation von Stefan Collier ersetzt. Dianas Präsentation ist für eine spezielle Online-Web-Präsentation geplant.

Wir danken auch unseren Übersetzern Jürgen Eichinger und Frank Hardy für die tolle Organisation.

BOAF - 2. INVITATIONAL - BOLZANO 2019

The 2nd BOAF Invitational on Behavioral Optometry and Syntonic Optometry was held on November 17-18, 2019 in Bolzano-Italy. The theme for this year was: ”Looking for Vision".

We also had a pre conference seminar presented by Geoff Shayler. He presented deeper insights on syntonic optometry, with very usefull tips and pearls how to implement these into our daily work.

There were Colleagues from The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom and Belgium.

We thank the participants for all their presence and wonderful interactions.

We would like to say a special thanks to all the presenters: Geoff Shayler, Jürgen Eichinger, Yvonne Frei and a special thank you to Sabine Tolksdorf.

Die 2. BOAF-Einladung zur Verhaltensoptometrie und Syntonischen Optometrie fand vom 17. bis 18. November 2019 in Bozen (Italien) statt. Das Thema für dieses Jahr war: "Looking for Vision".

Wir hatten auch ein Seminar vor der Konferenz, das von Geoff Shayler präsentiert wurde. Er präsentierte tiefere Einblicke in die syntonische Optometrie mit sehr nützlichen Tipps und Perlen, wie diese in unserer täglichen Arbeit umgesetzt werden können.

Es gab Kollegen aus den Niederlanden, Deutschland, Italien, der Schweiz, Österreich, Großbritannien und Belgien.

Wir danken den Teilnehmern für ihre Anwesenheit und die wundervollen Interaktionen.

Ein besonderer Dank geht an alle Referenten: Geoff Shayler, Jürgen Eichinger, Yvonne Frei und ein besonderer Dank an Sabine Tolksdorf.

Zusammenfassend war dieses Treffen einfach magisch

Il 2 ° BOAF Invitational on Optometria Comportamentale Syntonic Optometria si è tenuto dal 17 al 18 novembre 2019 a Bolzano-Italia. Il tema di quest'anno è stato: "Looking for Vision".

Abbiamo anche tenuto un seminario pre-conferenza presentato da Geoff Shayler. Ha presentato approfondimenti sull'optometria sintonica, con consigli e perle molto utili su come implementarli nel nostro lavoro quotidiano.

C'erano colleghi provenienti da Paesi Bassi, Germania, Italia, Svizzera, Austria, Regno Unito e Belgio.

Ringraziamo i partecipanti per la loro presenza e le interazioni meravigliose.

Vorremmo ringraziare in modo particolare tutti i presentatori: Geoff Shayler, Jürgen Eichinger, Yvonne Frei e un ringraziamento speciale a Sabine Tolksdorf.

SIXTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE - TORINO 2018

The 6th Annual BOAF Conference on Behavioral Optometry and Syntonic Optometry was held on October 27-28-29, 2018 in Torino-Italy. The theme for this year was: ”Vision in Balance".

12 top presenters: Dr. Patricia Fink, Dr. Paolo Tacconella, Achim Lippert, Anita Zach, Wolfgang Glettler, Dr. Sabrina Prudenzano, Dr. Sofia Vicentini, Suzanne Jasperse, Frank Hardy, Sabine Zirngibl, Jürgen Eichinger, and Sabine Tolksdorf brought the pieces of these Behavioral Optometric questions together. Unfortunately Hartmut Wander couldn’t present his lecture. We wish him a quick recovery.

The presentations were in English, Italian and German with simultaneous translation in Italian, English and German.

There were Colleagues from Canada, Slovenia, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom and Belgium.

During the breaks exhibitors presented their optometric novelties. Of course, we had our BOAF annual members meeting „Opening cocktail“ and a „Gala evening with an amazing band“ never to forget.

We want to congratulate our New BOAF-EASO Fellow, Wolfgang Glettler, for an amazing Fellowship examination completion.

BOAF-EASO First invitational Meeting - Frankfurt 2017

Dear Friends,

For this year we had planned a very very special BOAF-EASO annual meeting.

In the many preparatory talks the desire for a congress in the form of an Invitational Meeting was expressed again and again.

An Invitational Meeting is a special form. One can imagine this as a question/answer game. There are no rigid lectures, but each one asks questions, questions that personally burn him under the nails and she/he immediately receives answers. Answers from practitioners and for the practice, from the auditorium, from the board and from the instructors of BOAF.

We managed it and it is with great happiness that Stefan Collier accepted the moderation of the congress. Stefan will lead the congress in his unique way,  trows Tricks and Pearls and ensure that every question is answered professionally correctly and comprehensibly and some answers will also be put into practice via group workshop.
This type of congress is unimaginably sophisticated, especially for the moderator of the event. That is why our 2017 Annual Meeting will surely be unique, a repetition is absolutely unlikely. So that we can all participate in the congress we will shorten it to two days, Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of November 2017 and will take place in Frankfurt-Germany.

The Topic of the two days was:

” TRICKS AND PEARLS" of Behavioral Optometry

or in other words Syntonic, Neuro-Rehab and VT tricks from the sewing box. 

There were Colleagues from The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom and Belgium. It was really an amazing and unforgettable event.

Fifth Annual Conference Vienna 2016

The 5th Annual BOAF Conference on Behavioral Optometry and Syntonic Optometry was held on November 11-12-13, 2016 in Vienna-Austria. The theme for this year was: ”The language of vision - understanding? - being understood?".

Seven top presenters: DR.s Robert Sanet, Petri Eskola, Geoff Shayler, Deborah Zelinsky, Lynnette Burgess, Todd Wylie and Philip Bugaiski brought the pieces of these Behavioral Optometric questions together. All presentations were in English with simultaneous translation in Italian, Spanish and German.

There were Colleagues from Canada, USA, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, United Kingdom, Finland and Belgium.

We are pleased to let you know that we will post in the near future on the BOAF-Website-Member-Section, pictures and presentations of this unforgettable event. Be on the look out to refresh your memory and Language of Vision.

Thanks to Hoya and eyecarrot the attendees could communicate with each other with the ICBO-One / BOAF event App.

5th Annual BOAF Conference Brochure:

Fourth Annual Conference Berlin 2015

The fourth Annual BOAF Conference on Behavioral Optometry was held on October 2-4, 2015 in Berlin. The theme for this year was: “I‘m Amblyopic-Strabismic, WHO AM I?“.

Three top speakers; Dr. Samantha Slotnick, Profesora Pilar Vergara and Dr. Susan Daniel, brought Pieces of this Behavioral Optometric question together.

As a lead up to the main conference we offered a Pre-Conference. The first workshops explained the Norbekov Method. The second workshop presented by Yvonne Frei and Stefan Collier gave more inside on the application of Local-Focal Syntonic Optometry.

During breaks exhibitors presented their optometric novelties. Of course, we had our BOAF annual members meeting „Opening cocktail“ and a „Gala evening“ not to be missed.

2nd BOAF Annual Conference Amsterdam 2013

The 2nd Annual BOAF Conference on Behavioral Optometry was celebrated on September 21-23, 2013 in Amsterdam. The theme for this year was: “Putting the Pieces Together“. Three top speakers; Dr Robert Hohendorf, Dr. Paul Harris and Dr. Geoff Shayler, brought Pieces of the Behavioral Optometric puzzle together. During breaks exhibitors presented their optometric novelties. Of course, we had our not to be missed BOAF annual members meeting and a Gala evening  

As a lead up to the main conference we offered a Pre-Conference Workshop with Dr. Ray Gottlieb.

It was again a wonderful BOAF family gathering.

First BOAF Annual Conference Bolzano 2012

The Behavioral Optometry Academy Foundation held her First Conference in Bolzano- Italy. BOAF arranged a wonderful group of Speakers. Dr. Curtis Baxstrom, O.D., from the United States, Caroline Hurst, from the United Kingdom, and Janni Bartels, from Hamburg, Germany. This meeting served both the beginning and advanced Optometrist.
